Exciting growth opportunity near Mt. Prospect, IL for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a market leader providing innovative solutions using both conventional and solid-state technology. This role is responsible to work with cross functional teams to convert the mechanical and electrical concept into an actual delivered manufacturable product. Candidates must have a BS in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical is ideal) with at least (5) five years of work experience designing and testing electro-mechanical components. This is a direct hire role and relocation assistance would be provided for the ideal candidate.

Responsibilities for the Design Engineer

  • New product development, cost reductions and sustaining engineering for existing products
  • Design work includes enclosure part design, part assembly and detail part drawings.
  • Interact with vendors and factory to bring mechanical components through the manufacturing process into a finished product.
  • Develop and conceive concepts based on the technical spec provided, and convert the concept into an actual delivered manufacturable product
  • Involved in prototyping, testing, qualifying and review of specifications
  • Verify calculations by testing in lab using various equipment and meters

Requirements for the Design Engineer

  • BS in Engineering is required (Mechanical or Electrical)
  • Must have at least three (3) years' experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing organization
  • Demonstrate strong fundamentals dealing with electro-mechanical components
  • Experience with 3D Design software is required (Autocad, Inventor or Solidworks) is required.
  • Experience with FEA and CFD analysis using volt meters and other testing equipment is a huge plus!
  • Experience in the following industries: Casting, Machining, Sheet metal, PCB Board Assembly, Automotive, Home automation systems, HVAC (control systems) is preferred
  • Proficiency in LEAN and Six Sigma practices is highly desired
