An independent manufacturer of revolutionary, state-of-the-art drilling equipment has an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, for their facility in Houston, Texas. Oilfield product development experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Requires strong mechanical/machine design skills, and extensive downhole tool engineering experience
• The ability to complete design projects from feasibility through prototyping and testing stages with limited supervision
• Performs design prototyping, including field implementation and testing
• Mechanical design and modeling of a range of oilfield technology products that are being developed in an R&D environment
• Analysis of mechanical designs using fundamental calculations and advanced modeling software, e.g., FEA
• Supervision and direction of junior engineers and designers
• Developing 3D mechanical models using SolidWorks
• Creating complete, tolerance assembly and part drawings
• Develop test plans and perform testing on electro/mechanical parts and assemblies. Writing of final test reports

Requirements

• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Requires strong mechanical/machine design skills, and extensive downhole tool engineering experience
• Minimum 7 years experience as a mechanical design engineer
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering
• Solid project management skills
• Good mechanical design skills
• Enthusiasm for working in a diverse, technically demanding, and exciting technology environment
